I have heard that blind people sometimes have problems with food texture, because their blindness makes them very sensative to different textures of food. if you experienced any problem like this, please tell us. I can say that I hate the texture of an israeli cheese which is called Cotege. its' texture makes me feel bad and want to wamit. so if you experienced similar problem I will be glad to hear it. Hmm, I've always been a seriously fussy eater, and only the other day I was having some kind of conversation related to this topic. I know that there are foods out there that I just can't stand the taste of, and that's all well and good, but, the more I think about it, I think that there are some foods that I won't eat because of the texture. For example, I'll try and stay away from seafood and over-cooked vegies to the extent they've gone slimy. I hate eggs for the same reason, but I think that may have a taste element in it too. Overall, I spose what I'm trying to say, is that I think that you are right and that some blind people, me for one, do have issues with it, but I wonder if it is just limited to blindness? I wonder how many sighted people there are out there who actually sit down and ponder whether they don't like something because of it's taste or texture? I'm willing to bet that not many ever have.
I'm a fairly fussy eater. I won't touch any over-ripe or slimy fruit or vegetables, so if I choose something from the fruit bowl, it has to be absolutely fresh and ripe so I actually feel like eating it. For example, we had some really nice bananas which were at exactly the stage I like to eat them, so I had one Thursday lunchtime and I had two very ripe pears yesterday lunchtime because they needed eating. I can't touch meat or fish before its, cooked because I've always hated the smooth, squishy slimy yucky feel of them, so I steer well clear if mum's making one of her soups or casseroles and I'll only help wash, peel and chop the vegetables.es, and she'd better not let those overcook either. Yuck!
Mayonaise! YUCK! I just can't eat it, on anything, tuna, sandwiches, in salads, anywhere. It's a combination of flavor and texture. I can't eat things like blue cheese dressing, ranch dressing, sour cream or quokamoli on there own either, but I love them in things, and creamy cheeses like fantina or bri are all right, it's just mayo that makes me gag. I can't even be in the kitchen while someone is spreading it on a sandwich or I gag, and if I accidentally touch it while washing dishes I have been known to throw up. Mustard, catsup, relish, BBQ sauce, Italian Dressing, anything but mayonaise.
